Graphic of a RobotSTARBASE 2.0 is coming soon to the South Burlington site! We are in the stages of expanding our program to reach middle school students. STARBASE 2.0 will focus on further advancing skills in STEM education. STARBASE 2.0 will take place at various school locations and students will be working closely with STEM Mentors (Volunteers) to complete a variety of team building activities as well as STEM challenges. Mentors who demonstrate a passion in STEM will work with small groups of students throughout the program. Being exposed to different opportunities and careers in STEM, students and Mentors will have the opportunity to build relationships over the course of the program. The objective of the 2.0 program is to further develop student’s interest and knowledge in STEM education.

In March we will launch a pilot program at the JFK Middle School in Winooski. For 6 weeks students will be programming LEGO EV3 Robots. They will carefully calculate each move for their robots to successfully complete a variety of missions. Students will be programming robots to travel through tunnels, pick up objects, and even learning to parallel park! We are very excited to be launching this extension of the STARBASE Program in Winooski!

We plan to expand the STARBASE 2.0 Program in the future to other locations and are always looking for volunteers to mentor the students. If you are interested please contact Paige Montgomery, 2.0 Coordinator at paige@starbasevt.org, 802-660-5201.
